Having a Google Analytics account is an important step in gaining insight into the behavior of visitors to your website. But if you notice that no data is being measured yet, it may be that your website is not yet correctly linked to your Analytics account. In this support article we show you how to connect your website to Google Analytics and install the required code on every page to measure data.

Step 1: Log in to your Google Analytics account

Start by logging into your Google Analytics account via the Google Analytics website (https://analytics.google.com) with the correct credentials. If you don't have an account yet, create one before continuing.

Step 2: Navigate to your property

Once logged in, select the property (website) for which you want to measure data. Click on the correct property to continue.

Step 3: Go to 'Admin'

In the property settings, navigate to the 'Admin' section, which is usually located on the left sidebar. Click on it to access the admin settings.

Step 4: Link your website to Google Analytics

In the 'Admin' section, locate the 'Property' column and select 'Tracking info'. Click on 'Tracking code'.

Step 5: Generate the tracking code

Here you will find the tracking code for your website. Click 'Get Tracking Code' to generate the code. You must place this code on every page of your website in order to measure data.

Step 6: Install the tracking code on your website

Copy the generated tracking code and paste it into the HTML source code of each page of your website, just before the closing '</head>' tag. This ensures that the code runs correctly on every page.

Step 7: Verify the installation

After placing the tracking code on your website, go back to Google Analytics and click 'Verify'. Google Analytics will attempt to detect the code on your site. It may take a while for the first data to appear, but once the code is detected, Analytics will start measuring data.
