Google Analytics 4 is the latest version of Google's web analytics tool, offering a more holistic and flexible approach to website analytics than its predecessor, Universal Analytics. GA4 uses artificial intelligence to provide better insights into website visitor behavior, which can lead to more targeted marketing campaigns and better conversion rates.
Follow the steps below to install Google Analytics 4:
Step 1: Create a Google Analytics account
If you don't have a Google Analytics account yet, create one by going to https://analytics.google.com and following the instructions. If you already have an account, proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Create a GA4 property
Once you're logged in to your Google Analytics account, click on "Admin" in the bottom left corner of the page. Click on "Property" and select "Create Property." Choose "GA4" as the property type and follow the instructions to create the property.
Step 3: Collect the GA4 tracking code
Once you've created the GA4 property, click on "Web stream" in the property settings and then "Add stream." Enter the required information and select "Create stream." You'll now be taken to the page with the GA4 tracking code.
Step 4: Install the GA4 tracking code on your website
Place the GA4 tracking code on every page of your website, just before the closing </head> tag. You can add the tracking code manually or use a Google Analytics plugin to do it automatically for you. You can also use Google Tag Manager to add the tracking code.
Step 5: Verify the installation of the GA4 tracking code
After you've installed the tracking code, you'll need to check if it's working correctly. To do this, go back to the GA4 property settings, click on "Web stream," and select the appropriate stream. Click on "Check status" to verify the tracking code status.
Google Analytics 4 is now installed!
